A local school principal is accused of using
violence to teach a parent a lesson, Local 4 reported.
Jerry Ruffin told Local 4 he was attacked by a school
principal when dropping his son off at Winterhalter Junior High in
Detroit Monday morning.
Ruffin (pictured, left) said he was running late, so he
parked his car in the circle drive in front of the school.
When Ruffin got out to walk his son up to the school,
principal Anthony Jones approached him, Local 4 reported.
Jones allegedly cursed at Ruffin and told him to move his
car.
Ruffin said that as he attempted to walk past, Jones grabbed
his shirt.
"I walked away from him with my son in my hand, and he
grabbed my shoulder and (spun) me around and punched me in my jaw,"
said Ruffin.
Ruffin called police to report the incident. He went to Henry
Ford Hospital, where he was treated for bumps and bruises, Local 4
reported.
The school's assistant principal, who apparently witnessed
the encounter, said Ruffin started the fight.
Ruffin told Local 4 that Jones is much bigger than he is, and
he would not have started a fight with a man of that size.
Another parent said he saw Jones arguing with Ruffin, but did
not see any punches thrown.
School officials are reportedly investigating the incident
along with police.
Jones has been suspended with pay pending the results of the
investigation.
