College Prof Arrested: Murdered Her Female Partner

A college professor in cuffs. She's accused of killing her live in lover at their Terrell Hills home in San Antonio Monday night.

54 year-old Christie Bourgeois is being held on $50,000 bond Tuesday. She's accused of shooting her partner, 52 year-old Rebecca Odom. Olive Bayard says it's scary for her and other neighbors to live so close to what police call a murder scene.

"I am horrified to think that could happen. It is a little scary," says neighbor Olive Bayard.

Police say Bourgeois a part time history professor at Northwest Vista Community College shot and killed her lover after a reported argument.

"It's tragic," says neighbor Mary Baker, "I know people have tempers but it's sad for them to be carried out to this extent."

Some neighbors say they'd heard arguing before the gun went off. One of the women inside the home called 9-1-1. Bourgeois was treated at the hospital and taken to jail while her 52 year-old partner Rebecca Odom died at Wilford Hall.

"It's sad," says neighbor Mary Baker, "You don't know something like this could happen till it hits so close to home."

Bourgeois is charged with murder. She's being held on $50,000 bond at the Bexar County Jail.
