Landstuhl Hospital Describes Jessica Lynch's
Injuries
(CNSNews.com) 4/4/03 - Army Private First Class
Jessica Lynch was not stabbed. She was not shot. But she does have
two broken legs, a broken right arm, a broken right foot and ankle
and a broken lumbar spine, a hospital spokesman said at a press
conference on Friday. She's also being treated for a cut to her
head. "She has undergone several surgeries to stabilize her
injuries, including spinal surgery," said a spokesman at Landstuhl
hospital in Germany, where a number of American GIs are treated.
Today she will have additional surgeries to treat her other broken
bones. The spokesman said the surgeries have gone very well, but
she'll require extensive rehabilitation, the spokesman said. Her
doctors say the prognosis for Jessica's eventual recovery is
excellent. No one's saying how Jessica was injured, but press
reports suggest her captors may have inflicted some of her wounds.
She's said to be in good spirits, although she's still being fed
intravenously. She is receiving continuous medical and psychological
care, the hospital spokesman said.
