Balvantbhai Khalasi, 37, is recovering after he ran to a neighbor's home Saturday, dehydrated and with dried blood on his head, his neighbor said.
Khalasi's girlfriend, Christine Vannucci, 46, was arraigned Saturday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering a person, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint. She was being held in Allegheny County Jail on $10,000 bond. It was unclear whether she had an attorney.
Khalasi told a neighbor he was fed only a small bowl of soup during the ordeal.
Khalasi told his neighbor he'd been chained in his basement since Wednesday.
Vannucci knocked Khalasi out and when he awoke, he had chains around his neck, police said. Vannucci ordered Khalasi to the basement, where she hit him again and chained him to a pole.
Vannucci believed Khalasi was cheating on her, Khalasi said.
He was treated and released from a hospital, police said.
