Baby dies in bucket of cleaning fluids

DETROIT (AP) -- An 8-month-old girl died Sunday in a five-gallon
bucket of household cleaning fluids, police said.
Detroit police officials told WXYZ-TV the mother said she had
been bathing the baby in the cleaning solution contained in the
bucket.
"It had some water in it and we believe some kind of cleaning
solution in the water," homicide investigator Barbara Simon said.
Several neighbors who heard the woman screaming tried to revive
the infant girl, but she was pronounced dead at a Detroit hospital.
Police were questioning the mother Sunday night. An autopsy was
set for Monday.
